Sparking Innovation by fastening small insights with technology for a better world.

How It Started

Toshiaki Ogasawara, the founder of Nifco, started his professional career with the Japan branch of Steel Brothers. While at Steel Brothers, he obtained the firm’s scholarship and studied at the University of London. On his return he established Nichiei Bussan Co., Ltd. He eventually proceeded to study in the U.S. and established relationships with managers at Illinois Tool Works (ITW) who were vigorously pushing to develop plastic fasteners. In 1967 a joint venture between Nichiei Bussan and ITW was established, and the company was named Nippon Industrial Fastener Corporation (Nifco) which was renamed to Nifco Inc. in 1970

In 1986 ITW-Nifco Inc. was cofounded with ITW in Ohio U.S.A. The collaboration ended after 10 years and Nifco US Corporation was established.
